The fiber bend radius is the degree to which a fiber optic cable can bend without being damaged. If the bend radius is too tight, the fiber optic cable can break or bend beyond safe limits. This can lead to problems such as loss of signal or impaired operation. So we do need to be careful not to kink our fiber optic cables when we are installing a network.

The impact of improper fiber bend radius on signal loss and performance

Light signals that carry information can get scattered or lost when fiber optic cables bend too much. This may cause the signal to become weaker, or in some cases, to fail to work at all. This can bottleneck the internet or jam it so it doesn’t perform as it should. That is why fiber bend radius is important when deploying a network.
