Now in the “forest” of technology there is a different type of cable –2 Strand Single Mode Fiber- that enables us to be connected to one another but not in the same room. This special cable is unlike a similar seeming type known as multi-mode fiber, because it can send information much faster and much farther.
2 strand single mode fiber is analogous to a tiny pipe. Beams of light are transmitted over the fiber to send information from place to place. It is known as “single mode” because it permits only one beam of light to pass through at a time, which enables it to travel long distances without losing any information. Conversely, multi-mode fiber enables several beams of light to travel through at the same time, so it is better for shorter distances.
There are many advantages in using the 2 strand single mode fiber for long distance communication, among which is speed of transmission of information, which can travel 100 times faster than when using any other cables. What this means is we can speak to people at a distance without delay or interruption. It also lets us zap more information around in one go (tasty for things like video calls and streaming videos).
There are two component inside 2 strand single mode fiber optic cable-the core and the cladding part. The core is the central part where the stream of light is transmitted and the cladding is the outer covering that shields the core. The core, made of a particular type of glass, guides the light beams through the cable and helps them remain focused as they travel.
2 strand single mode fiber is revolutionizing long distance information transfers by increasing the speed and reliability of the delivery of that information. With the aid of this unique cable, we are able to now transmit data at speeds that were once deemed to be nearly impossible. This in turn means that we can remain in touch with folks from around the globe and have information at our fingertips.
With technology becoming increasingly advanced, there is only going to be more use of 2 strand single mode fiber in telecommunications. It could change the way we communicate, allowing us to connect more easily, and quickly, than we do now. In the coming months and years, we may see more advanced usages of this special cable (think: virtual reality, artificial intelligence).
